Getting in
By plane
The two airports of Rio de Janeiro, the Rio de Janeiro–Galeão International Airport (GIG) and the Santos Dumont Airport (SDU), are the best options. From there, the simplest solution is to take a taxi to Niterói (approx. R$ 100.00). Alternatively, bus 760D links the airport and Niterói.
By boat
The ferry between Rio and Niterói is a pleasant and affordable trip. It takes between 10 and 20 minutes to cross the bay, and departs from the terminal at “Praça XV” in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
By car or bus
From Rio de Janeiro you just drive through the longest bridge in Brazil, the Ponte Rio-Niterói; just like the name says it connects both cities. It is 13 km (8 mi) in length and there is a toll of R$ 4,90 (you pay 1 way only, coming from Rio). Buses from Rio, lines 771, 770, 100 and others.
If you are coming from Búzios or Cabo Frio you take the highway called “Via-lagos”.
Visa information
If you are attending CBIC from outside Brazil, before organizing your trip check if you need a Brazilian visa on the Foreign Ministry web.
